Failure Assessment of Engine Turnover Trolley

Shree Mech, a MTU supplier witnessed engine turnover assembly failure due to overload from the MTU engine mounted on the trolley. A systematic failure analysis was carried out to find the root cause of the failure. Modified design was carefully analysed for static and fatigue loading to verify that the design meets the loading conditions and future failures will be prevented.

Failure Assessment of Central Shaft of a Bagasse Dryer Rotor

CSK Engineering Works, a renowned boiler accessory manufacturer faced a problem of cracking of the bagasse dryer rotor. The structure consisted of a complex assembly of more than 400 components connected to each other through welds and bolts. Finite Element Analysis was carried out to identify the root cause of the problem and improve the design. Analysis also highlighted possible improvements in the material, ways to reduce the complexity of the assembly and ways to operate the dryer at the higher speeds. Possible weight reduction opportunities of over 1% add further cost saving to the customer.
